Global Challenge: Data Science/AI/Robotics and Emerging Media

>>> In the future, I wish to be an entrepreneur in a start-up that challenges clichés and attacks problems at their root cause. This type of thinking is rare among individuals and can only taught by doing projects and learning by failure.

Throughout the course of my many projects, I aim to tackle the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and the NAE Grand Challenges of Innovation in order to solve the critical problems that plague society.

Of these goals, I tend to focus on Goals 3 and 7 in developing projects that promote good health and well-being to those around the world and providing affordable and clean energy. I am also particulary interested in advancing virtual and artificial reality and engineering better medicines.

When I developed CrownCatch, I thought about Goal 3 in developing a product to help those in my community in The Bronx, NY stay safe in the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic. This involved using OpenStreetMap to find COVID-19 hotspots and their proximity to the user in the area, an active Bluetooth connection in the app to detect whether you are 6 ft away from another person and the latest news using a live news feed to find the latest updates regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. This is all-tied together with incentives to incentivize the user to follow these recommendations and stay safe during the pandemic.

Over the course of 2 years, I finished the Duolingo Russian Skill Tree up to the final Unit 51. The diamond trophy that you can see in the video shows the final completion of the skill tree. This shows completion and mastery of the Russian language including understanding of the different cases, different noun and verb conjugations. This enables me to have a B1 level language proficiency of Russian, which allows me to gain intercultural and interpersonal skills outside of my native tougue of English.

In addition to this, the Duolingo Spanish Skill Tree is partially completed up to Unit 25, giving me a B1 level language proficiency of Spanish. This gives me an advantage in understanding the heritage and native understanding in Spanish when I travel to the Universidad PolĂtecnico de Madrid for nanotechnology summer school from June 19-23, 2023.
